I hosted book club at my house last evening. I decided to do fall themed food as the weather was cool. On top of caramel cashew pretzels; meat, cheese and crackers; and baked brie bites (another Pinned it, Did it for later) I chose to try making mini caramel apple bites. I found them on Pinterest but it was only a photo, it did not link to a website. How hard could they be to make based on the photo?? Um, yeah, don't let the photo above fool you...I'm bad at making regular caramel apples, let alone mini caramel apples! I got out my melon ball scoop and began to scoop out the apple. This part wasn't so bad and was actually kinda fun. Tottie tried to do one but it was too hard for her. The caramel part is where I had problems and thus have no photos. I thought you simply melted the caramel and then dipped the apple pieces in. Well, I tried that and the caramel was too think so I had to mold the caramel over each piece of apple (the above photo … [Read more...]
Cottonelle® #LetsTalkBums #ad
This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Cottonelle. Let's talk WHAT? Yes, today we're talking bums (bottoms, rumps, back-sides, ba-dunk-a-dunks, tooshies, whatever you want to call them). You might be thinking this should be one of our After Hours posts but rest assured, we're not going to go that crazy! Cottonelle® is already one of our favorite brands of toilet paper. It's super soft to wipe with. Now they've come up with something even better...Cottonelle® Flushable Cleansing Cloths. In combination with their toilet paper, they make the Cottonelle® Clean Routine. I'll admit, I was bit skeptical about trying wet cloths on my bum. After all, isn't soft toilet paper enough? Aren't wet wipes for babies or kids who are potty training? I don't want to walk around with a wet bum after wiping! Au contraire mon frère, cleansing cloths are perfect for adults too! (Yes, suddenly I'm talking French while discussing my bum! Huh? I guess it's because the French … [Read more...]
Our 15 Seconds of Fame
"Oh my gosh! I saw you on TV!" "I saw you in the Bethenny commercial...!" "Was that you in the Bethenny commercial I saw?" Those are the words Lindsi and I heard ALL weekend. Friends blew up our texts, phones, and Facebook messages telling us we were in a commercial for Bethenny's new talk show! Unfortunately, it took FOREVER for Lindsi and me to see it. We searched high and low online and couldn't find it...we watched TV (a little too much) to see if it would come on...it was SO frustrating! Until...I set my DVR to pretty much continuously record the TV in the morning. I FINALLY saw it! I then re-winded it and recorded it on my phone so I could share it. Here's our 15 seconds of fame: [embedplusvideo height="253" width="450" editlink="http://bit.ly/14HdCjS" standard="http://www.youtube.com/v/yxceA0KVM8U?fs=1&hd=1" vars="ytid=yxceA0KVM8U&width=450&height=253&start=&stop=&rs=w&hd=1&autoplay=0&react=1&chapters=¬es=" id="ep8730" /] Did you see us? Bethenny #CallingAllMyGirls Tour Recap
One week from today the talk show bethenny will premiere on TV and we couldn't be more excited! You bet we've got our DVRs ready to go (both to watch the show and to see if our confession made the cut)! As we mentioned earlier, part of the celebrations and advertising for bethenny included Bethenny Frankel's Calling All My Girls Tour. As bloggers, we were invited to attend the party in Minneapolis. It was more fun than we could have imagined! Neither of us have had the opportunity to get dressed up lately so that was the first exciting part of it. We have to admit, we think we looked pretty darn good on that pink carpet! We continued to look good through out the party too (despite having multiple glasses of champagne and cocktails!). Yes, we did require a sober cab after the party was over but it was girls' night and it was a blast! We were tired in the morning but thank goodness did not have hangovers as someone had to take care of the kids! Bethenny was way more … [Read more...]
Back to School Meals Made Easy with Relish (Sample recipe included!) #Spon
Last year we told you about meal planning made easy with Relish! We enjoyed them so much that we're here to remind you that your back to school meals can be easy with them too!! What is Relish? Here's how they describe themselves: A weekly menu planner aimed to help busy families put wonderful meals on the table every night. No sloppy casseroles or expensive kitchen blunders. Instead look for everyday food...with a gourmet twist. We can vouch for the fact that their meals are easy, made with normal, fresh foods, and definitely taste gourmet (even though they don't take the gourmet time or skill to make). As far as the planning part of it goes...It takes me 15 minutes to come up with a menu for the entire week including a detailed grocery list broken down by store aisle!! With slightly extra time, I can make a menu full of freezer meals for busy weeks. That's how easy Relish! makes menu planning! Vegetarian family? No problem. Picky kids? No problem. Having … [Read more...]
Liquid Chalkers Review and Giveaway! #ad
My girls love chalk. They also love markers. When I saw a request to review liquid chalk markers, I thought they would be perfect for my girls! Unfortunately, neither girl was home when they arrived in the mail so I decided to give them a try :) Um, yeah, bad idea...I went a bit crazy coloring all over the windows and mirrors of our house! Liquid Chalkers came with specific instructions about using them on non-porous surfaces vs porous surfaces but says mirrors and windows are safe so that's what I stuck with. After all, that's the only thing I'll allow my girls to use them on anyway. If you accidentally use them on a porous surface and they don't wipe away easily, Magic Erasers work well at removing residue left behind. My girls came home from their playdates and saw my writings all over the house and insisted on trying the markers themselves...They couldn't get enough! They had fun drawing and erasing, drawing and erasing all over the front door. When all was said and … [Read more...]
