I saw these DIY CD spinning "tops" on Pinterest a while ago and thought they'd be fun for my girls to make. Unfortunately, the pin did not lead to the site from which the photo came, so I can't credit the original idea. My girls' first response when I told them what we were going to do, was "um, lame mom." I told the girls to give these tops a chance, they just might like them... Not only did the girls like these CD spinning tops, they each made TWO of them! You can see their reactions in the video below. To make your own DIY CD spinning tops, you'll need: Old cds bottle tops (from things such as water bottles) marbles paint hot glue gun with glue 1) Start by painting one side of the CD. You can paint them however you want but bigger designs, such as chunks of color, work better. 2) Once the paint is dry, glue the bottle top onto the center of the cd on the painted side. 3) Flip the CD over to the unpainted side and glue the marble into the center … [Read more...]
6 Tips for Bath Time Made Easy #ad
This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Sterling for IZEA. All opinions are 100% mine. With two kids and two dogs my bathtub gets a lot of use! The girls take baths every other day (or daily depending on what we've done) and the dogs are bathed at least once a week in the summer because we spend time at the river. My girls still need a little help with shampoo and conditioner and obviously my dogs can't bathe themselves. That means I spend a lot of time leaning over the bathtub. Ugh. Not only it is uncomfortable for my back to be leaning over the tub, it's also uncomfortable for my arms. Hard shower door tracks hurt my arms and leave marks that take a while to go away. Sterling knows that's an issue for more than just me so they came up with Sterling shower doors with ComforTrack technology. ComforTrack’s flexible bottom track supports the shower door’s glide while the cushioned threshold bends under pressure, allowing the user to kneel, sit, or lean on the track … [Read more...]
Pet Safety on the 4th of July
More pets are lost on the 4th of July than any other day of the year. July 5th is the busiest day of the year for animal shelters nationwide. How sad (and scary) are those facts? While you are out having fun, remember your pets and pet safety on the 4th of July. Keep your pet inside Pets are often scared of fireworks and will injure themselves trying to find a place to hide from the noise. Even if your pet is usually an outdoor pet, fireworks are an exception to the usual noise they hear. Make sure your pet has a safe place INSIDE to escape. Close windows and doors to lessen the noise and play a fan or background music/tv to help drown out the pops and bangs. Don't use insect repellent or sunscreen on your pet Just because it's not toxic to humans does not mean it's not toxic to pets. Pets lick their fur, we don't lick our skin. Ingestion of sunscreen products can result in drooling, vomiting, diarrhea, excessive thirst and lethargy. Ingestion of insect repellents that … [Read more...]
My Pregnancy Story #AstroglideTTC #ad
Ok, so the title of my post is a bit misleading. This isn't the story of my pregnancy, rather it's the story before my pregnancy and my difficulties trying to conceive. Not many people know this story because I don't share it often. After all, getting pregnant for me wasn't nearly as difficult as some of my friends but I did have issues. When I was in my early 20's I had an abnormal pap smear which lead to having a colposcopy and biopsy. The biopsy came back positive for pre-cancerous cells and I had to have a LEEP procedure to remove them. As un-luck would have it, I became one of those rare women to develop a cervical and uterine infection post LEEP procedure. In fact, infections are so rare that it took a month of excruciating pain and three different doctors before someone believed me. The infection became so bad that I spent 4 days in the hospital combating it. Fast-forward a few years and I tell my OB/GYN that Hubby and I want to get pregnant. She warned me that I might … [Read more...]
Free Customizable Camping List Printable
My family loves camping. Whether it be camping in our back yard, camping on our boat, or even having a camping birthday party, we camp at least once a year. You'd think that with how many times we camp that I'd have packing down to a tee. The thing is, I HATE packing. Packing for anything causes me huge anxiety. I'm not quite sure why. It's probably because my family moved a lot when I was younger. To help with packing for camping, I made a camping list printable of everything our family takes on our trips. Now packing (at least to go camping) is a breeze and we rarely forget anything! I thought I'd share my printable camping supply list with you to make your packing easy too! I've included things that we've packed when our girls were babies and even things we take for our dogs. This list is completely customizable so you can make it your own without a lot of thought. See the directions for customization below. Click on the photo above or click HERE to download. To … [Read more...]
Donate to Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals
I have been compensated for this post however all thoughts and opinions are my own. All statistical information and the Walmart gift card have been provided by P&G. Whether they suffer from common childhood afflictions like asthma and broken bones, or fight bigger challenges like birth defects or cancer, Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals provide comfort, treatment and hope to millions of sick kids. As you may know, my real job is a pediatric intensive care nurse. Though I do not work at a Children's Miracle Network Hospital, the hospital at which I work frequently partners with Gillette Children's Hospital which is a Network hospital. Why do we partner with them? Because, though my hospital is excellent at a lot of things, we can't be excellent at everything. Rehab and orthotics are two of the things with which we partner with Gillette. They are the Twin Cities’ only pediatric comprehensive inpatient rehabilitation program certified by the Commission on the … [Read more...]
