Kids Bowl FREE Summer Program

Yes, you read the title right...kids bowl FREE during the summer! I don't know when your kids get out of school for the summer but Tottie's preschool ended yesterday and Nutty's first grade ends in 2 weeks.  We don't have a lot of activities planned for the summer but that doesn't mean my girls won't be occupied... One of the ways we plan to stay busy is with the Kids Bowl Free program.  This program was designed by bowling centers to give back to the community and provide a safe, secure, and fun way for kids to spend time this summer.  There are tons of bowling centers across the US participating in the program and even some in Canada!! Families can get two free games for up to six children per day (valued at over $500 per child), and family packs (up to 4 adults) for the whole summer are $24.95. You read that right...a cheap way to do something fun this summer!  It's also great for those days when it's just to hot to play outside!!  For more information about the Kids Bowl … [Read more...]

Fingerprint Art

I had a ton of fun making spring photos with my fingers the other day...and in all honesty the kids didn't participate. I know this is something they'd love to do, however, we were "blessed" by 12 inches of snow this past week so they were more inclined to go sledding than finger art! LOL Bumblebee- simply use the thumb for the body and the pointer finger for the head. When the ink is dry add the details using a black marker Frog- my personal favorite! He's cuuuuuute! The thumb is what you use to make the body. Add the black details when it's dry and then use a green marker to add little triangles for the webbed feet. Butterfly-  use your pointer finger and print two next to each other to create the wings of the butterfly. When the ink is dry use a black marker to fill in the details. Flower- your thumb will get a work out when making this flower. Dip your thumb in yellow ink and make the flower shape. Clean your thumb off then add two green prints for the leaves and … [Read more...]

Sensory Mud- Pinned it, Did it

If your kids like things that feel neat then this is the thing for them! It's REALLY easy and REALLY cheap to make too! All you need is water and a box of baking soda (which usually runs you less than a dollar). My kids love to feel squishy things with their hands and feet so when I saw this pinned on Pinterest I thought I better give it a try. The original pin just used baking soda and water, but I added a little food coloring to the water prior to mixing and we ended up with some blue "sensory mud." Dump your box of baking soda in a bowl and SLOWLY add a few drops of water....seriously all you need is about a teaspoon total. If you add the water to quickly or add to much you end up with soup rather than mud. My kids loved to just squeeze it but there are several other things you can do with it too. You can use different cookie cutters to make shapes in the mud, which was one of my favorite things to do with it. My two-year old used the sensory mud to drive his trucks in and he … [Read more...]

Kids Car Wash

Some of you may remember my post a while back about Making Cleaning Fun.  Well the spring has been sloooooooow to arrive in the frozen tundra and today it finally arrived! The sun is shining and their Cozy Coupe cars from Little Tykes were in desperate need of a cleaning. We lined them up for the car washing of their lives! I ran in the house and grabbed a bucket of warm soapy water and a few wash cloths. My daughter decided that the cars needed a little vacuuming before they were spiffed up for spring. After lots of bubbles and giggles we ended up with three VERY clean cars. Have you ever held a car wash at your house? … [Read more...]

How to Pamper Yourself on Mother’s Day (and involve your kids!)

If your husband/significant other is anything like mine or Lindsi's you already know you won't be getting much (if anything) for Mother's Day.  Don't worry, we've got ways for you to pamper yourself on Mother's Day while also involving your kids (in most cases). Let your kids paint your nails. It doesn't have to be pretty but it will be fun!  Let your kids wash your feet and put lotion on them for a full pedicure! Take a bath while your kids watch a movie.  Ok, so this one doesn't involve your kids but it does keep them occupied while you get some quiet time.  Rent a movie they've never seen so that it keeps their attention. Let your kids style your hair.I don't know about you but I love when my girls play with my hair!! Have your kids draw shapes on your back.Your kids draw shapes on your back while you try to guess what shape it is.  It's like a mini massage! Let your kids make you lunch.Grab the bread, peanut butter, and jelly.  Sit back and have your kids make your … [Read more...]

Cinderella Nails

Welcome to our week of Disney! We will have five fantastic Disney inspired posts for you this week and a few giveaways! Make sure you come back each day and enter! Here's an easy way to turn your princess into a REAL princess. Cinderella nails! I saw this done on adult nails and I knew I could pull this off on my daughter...and she was very pleased to let me try! Start with a pale blue nail polish. This may take 2-3 coats, since it is so pale. Next cut out Cinderella's face from a sheet of temporary tattoos. Make sure it is small enough to fit on the finger of your princess. Then add a bit of silver glitter nail polish. Last cover each nail with a top coat to keep the art in place for days to come. … [Read more...]
