10 Pinterest Ideas I Don’t Have Time For

I love Pinterest. As almost everyone knows, it's a place FULL of ideas. Some are things we can actually do, others I look at and go, "who has time for that?!". Today I'm bringing you 1o Pinterest ideas I don't have time for. I mean really, who does this stuff? Ok, I DO know someone who does these type of things...Lindsi, my former co-author turned occasional contributor here. You'll see as I go ahead... I, however, and contrary to how I may look on this blog, am just not that patient or creative. The Cardboard Tube Log Cabin It's an awesome idea, don't get me wrong, but really? First, how long did it take to save up all those cardboard tubes? Second, how frustrating was it to make them stack up like that? Third, how much tape did they use in making this cabin? I'll pass. The Cardboard Village Speaking of cardboard houses, Lifehack has an entire cardboard village! Is this even functional to play with, or is making it the entire idea? My girls would get bored and/or … [Read more...]

Celebrating Memorial Day with Kids

Most people consider Memorial Day the unofficial kick-off to summer. In the midst of BBQs, camping, beach time, and other patriotic fun, we often forget forget the real reason why we celebrate Memorial Day - to honor those who sacrificed their lives while serving in our military. This year, in addition to playing some patriotic games, take time to try at least one of these ideas to help your kids learn that Memorial Day is not just a day off of school for a BBQ... Send a letter of thanks If you know a family who has lost a loved one in the military, write a letter of thanks to them. Thank them for allowing their relative to serve our country and remind them that the loss of their relative will not be forgotten. Visit a Veteran's cemetery Bring flowers to decorate the grave of someone who may not have family to decorate it for them. Walk through the cemetery and look at names and dates of birth/death. Learn about real Heroism Visit the U.S. Department of Defense and learn … [Read more...]

Rinse. Recycle. Reimagine #ad #ReimagineThat

*I was given compensation to promote this campaign. All thoughts and opinions are my own. 1 in 5 (22%) Americans wouldn’t walk across their home to recycle a bath or beauty bottle. In fact, Americans are more likely to go the distance to get a drink when thirsty, charge their phone, or answer a phone call than walk an empty plastic bottle from the bathroom to the recycling bin. I admit it. I'm totally guilty! In fact, this is an actual, real time, real life, photo of my shower shelf. I did NOT stage this. My shelf actually looks like this as I'm typing... Ok, I did remove a hairball or two but the rest of the photo is real. See that black bottle in the back? See the small clear bottle in the back? Those bottles are both empty. Both waiting to be taken downstairs to the recycle bin but I'm too lazy to do so. Those two bottles will sit in my shower until Hubby either yells at me for a third (or fourth) time or he takes them downstairs himself. More men (80%) reported recycling … [Read more...]

Fun Last Day of School Activities for Those Who Walk

In my neighborhood area most kids walk to and from school (including mine). On any given school day there are at least 30 kids who meet at the 4-way stop for the crossing guards to let them onto school grounds. This year, I've decided to do at least one (if not all) of these last day of school activities for the kids who walk. I can't wait! Though I say that these activities are for kids who walk to and from school, you CAN do some of them for bus stop kids too. Shhhh...don't tell my girls or their friends. It's going to be a surprise! I'm gonna need some help from a few parents (or the older kids in the neighborhood who get out earlier) to pull off the last one though! Hand Out Freezies What kid doesn't like freezies? They are fairly inexpensive and are mostly allergy-free. Hand them out to the kids as they walk home for a nice last day of school treat. Decorate the Walking Paths or Sidewalks Grab some sidewalk chalk and get to decorating! Phrases like "Welcome … [Read more...]

Taco Rolls

What's for dinner? It's the question I dread every single day. Some weeks I meal plan, other weeks I plan dinner an hour before I need to put it on the table. This week is one of those weeks that I plan last minute. I came up with these taco rolls as I was staring at the contents of my refrigerator. I thought I was being cleaver with this recipe but it turns out taco rolls are not a new idea. As I was typing in keywords for this post, taco rolls popped up so I decided to Google them. Sure enough, someone came up with the idea before me. Oh well, I'm still going to give you my recipe because I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one who didn't know about them. Plus, they are SUPER easy to make and my family LOVED them. You'll need: 2 tubes of crescent rolls ground hamburger or ground turkey taco seasoning cheddar cheese any taco toppings you want 1) Brown the hamburger or turkey, drain the fat, and add the taco seasoning according to the directions on the … [Read more...]

Hard Rock Cafe’s Food and Drinks

I few weeks ago I had the opportunity to try out Hard Rock Cafe's new food and drink menu at the Mall of America. The only thing I can say is, wow. Hubby, I, and fellow bloggers were treated to an 8 course dinner. Yes, eight courses! Talk about trying nearly everything on the menu...I think I'm still full (and a bit tipsy as everything on the menu also has an alcoholic beverage that pairs with it)! Our dinner started out with appetizers--Spinach Artichoke Dip, Tupelo Chicken Tenders, and Balsamic Tomato Bruschetta along with Magical Mystery Mojitos (so refreshing!). While the dip was good, hubby liked the chicken tenders and I liked the bruschetta. There was definitely something different about this bruschetta than most that I've had. Next came an Air Mexico starter with three signature mini margaritas and a personal portion of chips and salsa. Cucumber margarita was my favorite, mango was Hubby's favorite. Grilled Chicken Arugula Salad started our main meal. Lemon … [Read more...]
