After The Review–A Holiday Gift Guide

If you've read our blog for any amount of time, you know that we've done our fair share of product reviews.  Companies send us products to try out for a week up to a month and we write our thoughts about them.  99% of the time we write positive reviews because if we don't like a something, we inform the company, and they tell us not to post a review (or sometimes they give us a different product to try).  What happens after the review though?  Do we still like and use these products months or even years after our initial post?  Read on to discover which products we're still in love with. We were not asked by any of these companies to write a follow up review and we have received no compensation for this post.  We simply thought it would be fun to share with our readers that yes, we really DO like, and still use, a lot of the products we review.  You might consider this our idea of a Holiday Gift Guide :) 1)  Urban Halo.  We reviewed Urban Halo headbands back when we were just … [Read more...]

Free The Children’s #WeScareHunger

Fact: 1 in 8 Americans rely on food banks. Fact:  Millions around the world go hungry every day, even in your own back yard. Fact: 14.9% of households do not always have enough money to buy food. Fact:  In 2012, more than 10,000 students and individuals across the U.S. participated in We Scare Hunger, collecting more than 30,000 pounds of food to support food banks across the country. This year, the We Scare Hunger campaign hopes to collect 1 million pounds of food for food banks across North America. There are less than 8 days until Halloween this year.  Many of us will be out with our children collecting candy that we do not need, while a few families will go the evening without even eating dinner. This year, collect non-perishable food items along with your candy to help those who do not have enough to eat. Free The Children’s We Scare Hunger campaign, made possible in the United States by the General Mills Foundation, is an annual campaign to mobilize youth around … [Read more...]

Free The Children’s We Act and We Day

To be honest, I have no clue where to start with this post.  I have SO MUCH to tell you about Free The Children, We Act, and We Day Minnesota that I'm overwhelmed.  I guess I'll start with the fact that when someone from Free The Children  asked me if I wanted to cover We Day Minnesota on our blog I had no clue how inspired I would be from it! The best way to describe Free The Children, We Act, and We Day comes straight from the source: Founded in 1995 by international human rights activist Craig Kielburger, Free The Children believes in a world where all young people are free to achieve their fullest potential as agents of change.  We are an international charity and educational partner that empowers youth to remove barriers that prevent them from being active local and global citizens.  We work domestically through We Day events and the We Act program to educate, engage and empower 2.3 million youth across North America and the UK.  Our international projects, implemented … [Read more...]

Bethenny’s #CallingAllMyGirls Tour + TITD After Hours

Welcome to Toys In The Dryer’s first ever After Hours post. This will be the only one you will see on our front page. Are you confused yet? Let me explain… Lindsi and I were invited to attend Bethenny Frankel’s Calling All My Girls Party in Minneapolis on Wednesday, August 6th. Bethenny is best known as the founder of the Skinny Girl Brand and is a former cast member of The Real Housewives of New York. She is now launching her own talk show called bethenny on the Fox network on September 9th. The Calling All My Girls tour is a fun way to promote Bethenny’s talk show. Contrary to our blog, Bethenny is known to share too much information and is not afraid to “go there,” however, among her controversial topics, she also focuses on family topics. So far, our blog has been family friendly and politically correct. It will continue to stay that way on our front page. However…Lindsi and I (along with the majority of our readers) are not only moms, we are women who like to have fun. … [Read more...]
