Character Applique Shirts for Disney

If you've been following our blog for a while you know how much I love to sew. Yes, it is true- I sew A LOT! I found some ADORABLE Disney princess shirts for sale on Etsy a few weeks ago but I seriously couldn't stomach the thought of paying $35-$55 for ONE shirt. Guess who came to the rescue? My husband! He owns his own business and he was able to get me a handful of plain white shirts for me to be crafty and creative with.  The shirts arrived and I knew exactly what I wanted to do with each one! I purchased some iron-on appliques of each Disney princess and began looking for the correct fonts for the names. Each character has their name in the font that Disney chose to use. I simply followed my instructions HERE and got to work. I simply cut out each name of the princesses I wanted to make and attached them to the shirts using a bonding material. I added extra security to the letters by stitching them into place. I hope that these shirts will inspire you to create your own and that … [Read more...]

Melting Beads Craft

Last week my daughter and I were having some special girl time and we made some Shrinky Dinks...the princess pack. It was a lot of fun to see her face when her creations came out of the oven a fraction of the size that they once were. So I got to thinking "hmmm, I wonder what would happen if I put some of those plastic craft beads in the oven." I tested it out and after a few tries I finally figured out the correct temperature to melt the beads...and they were SO pretty! For about $5 you can get one of those big buckets of beads at your local craft store (many of you likely already have some in your home). -Preheat your oven to 425 degrees F Lay out the beads in the shape you wish them to be. Make sure that they are really close together so that when they melt they stick together. Set them on some parchment paper and then pop them in the oven for around 10-12 minutes. When they come out they will be melted and stuck together. I even tried it with those glassy/glittery … [Read more...]

Fingerprint Art

I had a ton of fun making spring photos with my fingers the other day...and in all honesty the kids didn't participate. I know this is something they'd love to do, however, we were "blessed" by 12 inches of snow this past week so they were more inclined to go sledding than finger art! LOL Bumblebee- simply use the thumb for the body and the pointer finger for the head. When the ink is dry add the details using a black marker Frog- my personal favorite! He's cuuuuuute! The thumb is what you use to make the body. Add the black details when it's dry and then use a green marker to add little triangles for the webbed feet. Butterfly-  use your pointer finger and print two next to each other to create the wings of the butterfly. When the ink is dry use a black marker to fill in the details. Flower- your thumb will get a work out when making this flower. Dip your thumb in yellow ink and make the flower shape. Clean your thumb off then add two green prints for the leaves and … [Read more...]

Last week at Target, in the dollar section, I found these awesome water bottles. They are red with black tops- PERFECT for what I had in mind! (Honestly, I was just about to purchase some custom water bottles on Etsy for $9.99 each!). I spent $3 on each bottle, and purchased five (I have four kids and my neighbor is coming with us to Walt Disney World so I made one for her as well.) I just happen to have a Cricut Die Cutting machine and knew exactly what I was going to do. I grabbed my Mickey Mouse cartridge and began cutting out the kids names in Disney font. For those who do not have the ability to do this you have a couple of options: you can purchase vinyl letters in Disney font on Etsy for a fairly cheap price, you can cut them out on your own using sharp scissors and some sticky vinyl, or you can make a stencil out … [Read more...]
