I've seen lots of variations of toilet paper roll bunnies. Most involve keeping the toilet paper roll whole. I had every intention of doing one of those type of bunnies with my girls until I started to make toilet paper roll flowers with them. Huh? What--you ask? What do toilet paper roll flowers have to do with TP roll bunnies? Nothing really, except that the cut up roll happened to sit on my table similar to what you see below and I thought to myself, "now this is a good bunny!" Here's what you'll need to make your own toilet paper roll bunnies like we did: Toilet paper rolls (duh!) Paint (optional) Glue 5 paper clips per TP roll Step 1) Have your kids paint their toilet paper rolls. This step is completely optional as the bunnies look just fine plain brown. I painted my bunny white but my girls both insisted on painting theirs rainbow colors for spring. Step 2) Let the toilet paper rolls dry. Step 3) Cut the toilet paper roll in half. … [Read more...]
Paper Mache Easter Eggs
Easter was always a fun time for crafts for with family. My mom always had fun stuff for my sister and me to do. One of my favorite things was making paper mache Easter eggs. This year I decided to make them with my girls. Remember my paper mache maracas? Well, this is not one of those posts. These turned out absolutely adorable! My girls thought these were just as fun to make as I remember they were at that age. In fact, I still think they are really fun to make! To make your own paper mache Easter eggs you'll need: Flour Water Newspaper Balloons Paint Anything you want to put inside Step 1) Have your kids cut up newspaper into strips. Step 2) While your kids are cutting up the newspaper, use a mixer to blend four and water. Mix 3/4 cup flour to 1 cup water. Step 3) Cover your table with uncut newspaper to prevent the paste from getting all over. Step 4) Dip a strip of newspaper in the paste and slide your fingers down to get rid of any … [Read more...]
Bunny Bunting Banner
Do you or your kids like Peeps? You know those marshmallows that are shaped into various animals covered in sugar. My kids LOVE them and I think they are pretty cute! I thought it might be fun to make a "Peep" shaped banner for our fireplace with my oldest son. Here is what you will need: a variety of colored paper marker scissors ribbon hot glue (or school glue) bunny shaped peeps (or a bunny print) I took one bunny-shaped Peep and traced it to make a pattern and then cut that pattern out so I could help my son trace the shapes onto the paper we selected. We traced the bunny onto several "spring" colored pieces of card stock paper. We traced about 12 of each color. After we cut them out we organized them into pretty little piles =) (cause I'm crazy like that) We took a little brown marker to make the eyes and noses on each bunny and set them aside. I was planning on using a simple ribbon to attach them but I liked the idea of using ric rack to add a … [Read more...]

Egg Carton School Buses
The Wheels On The Bus- It's a song we all know, right? Well I saw these hanging in the classroom of my middle son. I couldn't resist sharing with you how to make them because they are SO adorably cute! Here is what you will need Egg carton Yellow paint Black marker Have your child(ren) paint the egg carton in a school bus yellow color.Water color paints don't work very well because the color doesn't dry very bold and it leaves the bus looking blah! Let the "bus" dry over night so that it is read for the wheels and label tomorrow. Color two black circles on the egg carton and write SCHOOL BUS on the top. I couldn't help but fall in love with the way these adorable buses were displayed. It would take us a while to save enough egg cartons to make an entire mobile but nonetheless it was worth making! Hope you will make some buses with your kiddos and will share with us how they went! … [Read more...]
Scratch Drawing
Scratch drawing (or rainbow drawing as Lindsi calls it) was one of my favorite things to do as a child. It was fun seeing all the unique pictures I could make. It was also one of Lindsi's favorite things to do. You see, Lindsi was scheduling posts for next week when she happened to look at what I had scheduled for this week. She called me up and said, "I think we have the same posts scheduled! What is 'scratch drawing?'" When I told her she started laughing, "that's the same as my 'rainbow drawing' I have scheduled for next week!" Both Lindsi and I learned scratch drawing using just crayons (on the left above) but I recently saw some using crayons and paint (on the right above) and decided to give that a try with my girls too. To do scratch drawing with your kids, you'll need: White paper Crayons Dark paint or a black crayon Toothpicks, paper clips, a coin, or some other object for scratching Have your kids color patches of color on the paper with the … [Read more...]
