Last Thursday was "Mommy and Me Day" at Tottie's preschool. For an hour all the moms visited their kids at school, played games, sang songs, made crafts, and ate a snack. The past two "Mommy and Me Days" I attended with Nutty, the snack consisted of a "sundae" made from a graham cracker, frosting, and a maraschino cherry which the kids made for us. This year they did something different...ladybug cookies. They were so cute I just had to share them with you! We made the cookies together this year and it was a ton of fun! (Disclaimer: All the photos except the first one are of Tottie making the cookies at preschool. I forgot to take a photo of the finished cookies, however, so I recreated them slightly differently at home for the "good" photo). To make these cookies yourself, you'll need: Nilla wafer cookies Vanilla frosting Red food coloring (the gel works the best or the frosting may turn out more pink than red) Mini chocolate chips (though the regular size will do … [Read more...]
My New GE® Hybrid Stainless Steel Dishwasher! #ad
Two years ago, when I was blogging as Mommy's Camera, I won a trip to the GE® Monogram Experience Center in Louisville, KY (click the link to read my first post about it). The trip was WAY beyond my expectations and something I will never forget. I met some awesome women (second post) and stayed at a super fun hotel (third post, yes, it was so fun I wrote THREE posts about it!!). I have maintained a good relationship with GE® Appliances since that trip so when my dishwasher died a few weeks ago, my friends at GE® were the first people I emailed for advice about a new one (I'm lazy and did not want to do a lot of research). As luck would have it, they put me on their "Clean Team" and let me try one of their latest and greatest models, the GE® Hybrid Stainless Steel Interior Dishwasher! Over the next few months you'll be hearing a little bit about my experience with the dishwasher, how it fits into my life with my kids, and what I do (and don't) like about it. Let's start … [Read more...]
An epic advenure, thank goodness for Quaker® Perfect Portions #QuakerEpicAdventures
In Minnesota we cherish warm weather, because, to be honest we don't have a ton of it! On days when the weather is perfection we try and be active outside as much as possible. This past week was one of those weeks where we spent the days outside; from sunrise to sunset. It was a good thing we started our day off right....thank goodness for Quaker® Oatmeal Perfect Portions! We each made the perfect amount for breakfast, sweetened to everyone's taste, and headed out on quite the adventure! We are blessed to live on a lake and with that comes fun family adventures for us all! This past weekend we loaded up our four kids on the boat and cruised over to the "Big Island" for a little hike. We beached our boat and headed out for the unknown. Big Island is an island that is fairly small (when you compare it to other islands) but it is filled with tall grass, trees, wild life, and beaches. Normally we spend about an hour on Big Island just walking around but this past weekend we spent … [Read more...]
How to Pamper Yourself on Mother’s Day (and involve your kids!)
If your husband/significant other is anything like mine or Lindsi's you already know you won't be getting much (if anything) for Mother's Day. Don't worry, we've got ways for you to pamper yourself on Mother's Day while also involving your kids (in most cases). Let your kids paint your nails. It doesn't have to be pretty but it will be fun! Let your kids wash your feet and put lotion on them for a full pedicure! Take a bath while your kids watch a movie. Ok, so this one doesn't involve your kids but it does keep them occupied while you get some quiet time. Rent a movie they've never seen so that it keeps their attention. Let your kids style your hair.I don't know about you but I love when my girls play with my hair!! Have your kids draw shapes on your back.Your kids draw shapes on your back while you try to guess what shape it is. It's like a mini massage! Let your kids make you lunch.Grab the bread, peanut butter, and jelly. Sit back and have your kids make your … [Read more...]

TempleTouch™ Thermometer Review and Giveaway
When Lindsi and I were contacted by Medisim to review their TempleTouch™ thermometer we jumped all over the chance. After all, we've had our share of sick kids during this never ending winter. Lindsi's review of the Premium Temple and Underarm Thermometer: It was perfect timing to receive these TempleTouch™ Thermometers when we did. I unfortunately became ill (with pneumonia of all things). I will be honest and say that I was leery of the accuracy of the TempleTouch™ at first because, being a nurse, I knew all too well the inaccuracy of thermometers that weren't under the tongue. I was running a low grade fever throughout my recovery. I used my trusted under the tongue thermometer as well as the TempleTouch™ Thermometer to compare the accuracy of them. My under the tongue thermometer read 100.4 at one point and the TempleTouch™ read 100.1. I'd say that was pretty close to the same. When I tested it under my arm my thermometer read 99.5 and the TempleTouch™ (when changed to the … [Read more...]
