How To Make A Pasta Angel

A few years ago as I was helping a friend go through some of her grandmother's belongings I came across a cute angel made of pasta sitting in the china cabinet. I took a photo and thought it would be fun for my girls to make. I had forgotten about the pasta angel until I was cleaning photos from my computer a couple days ago. Needless to say, I went out and bought what I needed to make these adorable Christmas decorations. Here's what I bought/already had: Paint brush White acrylic paint Glue* Wooden beads** Small ring pasta Rigatoni noodles Elbow macaroni Farfalle pasta (bow-tie pasta) Glitter Medium shell noodles** *Regular school glue works just fine but takes a while to dry. You can use a hot glue gun to speed up time but I do not recommend a hot glue gun for little kids.  **Wooden beads and medium shells can be exchanged for each other as seen in the first photo above. 1) Start by gluing the wooden bead or the medium shell noodle to the … [Read more...]

Two Sisters Spa Bath Bombs

Last month a local Minnesota mom contacted me to review her homemade bath bombs. While I haven't done a review for an Etsy shop in a while, these fun bath products intrigued me. Let me tell you, I am so glad that I didn't turn down the offer. What are Two Sisters Bath Bombs? Well, have you ever done a volcano with vinegar and baking soda? It's kinda like that only for your bath! The bombs weigh 4-5 oz each and are about the size of tennis balls. You can rest assured that they are safe because they are made with sodium bicarbonate, citric acid, Epsom salts, essential oils or fragrance oils, olive oil, water-based colorants, and witch hazel. Just plop these little bath bombs in your warm tub water and watch them "explode"! My girls thought these things were (pardon the pun) "the bomb!" Not only was it fun for the girls to watch (and feel) the bombs go crazy in the tub, waiting for what was inside was "so exciting". I actually didn't tell them there was a surprise … [Read more...]

Christmas Activity Printable

A few weeks ago I made Thanksgiving activity printables. I had a ton of fun making them and my girls thought they were fun to do so I thought I would make a Christmas activity printable too. Unlike the Thanksgiving printables, I only made one version this time. I've been extremely busy this past week with our new dog Bentley. I haven't been able to keep up on housework let alone blog stuff! My 6 year old didn't have too hard of a time doing the activities on this printable though. The maze was a bit hard for both the girls until I made a minor adjustment to it :) Click on the photo above to download this Christmas activity printable for your kids. I hope they enjoy it as much as mine did!   … [Read more...]

Introducing…Bentley!

My family and I are proud to introduce our newest member...Bentley! He's an (approximately) 1.5 year old Boxer boy who we are fostering-to-adopt. He was found as a stray in North Carolina and transported to us in Minnesota this past weekend. The rescue group, Across America Boxer Rescue, is based out of MN but takes dogs from across the US, thus we got a dog from NC :) Despite him being here for less than 24 hours, he has definitely made himself at home and is blending beautifully into our family so far! We can't believe how calm and gentle he is for his age! Don't get me wrong, he's still a puppy and easily excitable, but he's neither a jumper nor a mouther (bonus!). As you can see, we've got some work to do to fatten this boy up. Right now you can see all his ribs and his back bone. Once he puts on some weight and fills out to his full grown self (boxers finish "filling out" around 3 years old), he's going to be one BIG handsome boy! We had some concerns that … [Read more...]

Turkey In Disguise

Ok, I'll admit, when Trisha from MomDot.com posted in our blogging group that she wanted to do a link up of Turkey In Disguise, I wasn't quite sure about it. I didn't really get it. Then I showed it to my girls... ...and even I got into it! See that photo above? Yup, that's my Turkey In Disguise as a nurse. You see, turkeys don't want to get eaten on Thanksgiving so they dress up as something else so they won't be noticed. I printed Trisha's free Turkey In Disguise printable then Nutty and Tottie got out their markers and went to town. Tottie came up with all kinds of ideas and made me print FOUR turkeys. Nutty had a bit of a harder time and is so picky that she's still working on her second turkey (but she plans on doing more she says). Tottie disguised her turkeys as a sunflower, girl, boy, and also copied my nurse. Nutty's turkey in disguise was a ballerina and a (not quite finished) Mini Mouse. We used just markers to make our turkeys but if you … [Read more...]

My Perfectly, Imperfect Marriage

I'm going to start this post with a disclaimer. First, this post is NOT sponsored. In fact, the company doesn't even know I'm writing a post about them. Second, this post is off-topic of what I normally talk about but I felt the need to write it... A little over 15 years ago my husband and I got engaged. We were 20 and 23 years old, and full of young love bliss. Back then, my friends were getting large, flashy, expensive diamond engagement rings. After all, isn't that what you're suppose to get? I, however, wanted something small and simple. A 1/4 carat solitaire to be exact. I'm not a huge jewelry fan and I felt like I didn't need a big diamond for him to show his love. After much discussion with my then boyfriend/soon to be fiance, he convinced me to try on the ring below. I thought it was still to big/fancy, but he thought I deserved something more than a small solitaire. Though it was slightly larger at 1/3 carat and not a solitaire, I loved it the moment I tried it … [Read more...]
