Last week I showed you how we prepared for our week long trip on the Mississippi River with Walmart as our SNACKATION Destination. Today, you get to see what a week long river trip looks like! Let me tell you, it was a TON of fun! Monday Monday was actually spent just hanging out at our marina. We needed to clean, organize, and pack the boat. We also got a bit of fishing in on the docks. The girls were catching fish left and right! We slept on our boat in our slip that night. Tuesday Tuesday we hung out with friends in the bay near our marina. We went tubing and swimming. Tuesday night we actually went home to sleep because we had to prepare for... Wednesday Nutty's birthday party! Yes, Nutty's 9th birthday party was on our boat on the river. A total of 8 girls hung out going for boat rides, tubing, and playing on our water carpet. A few friends … [Read more...]
Preparing For A Week On The River with Smuckers and Walmart #ad
This post is sponsored by the J.M. Smucker company through a campaign with Sverve. All opinions expressed are 100% my own. If you haven't figured out from my Instagram feed, my family has been spending a TON of time on our boat this summer. It's our first year getting a slip at a marina vs trailering it and we have not regretted the decision. This year, in addition to every weekend, we spent two full weeks on our boat on the river. The first week was at the beginning of the summer where we camped on an island for 3 days, the second week was two weeks ago where we traveled up and down the river. More to come on that later... So how do I prepare for all this time on the river? I head to Walmart! It has become my SNACKATION Destination! Walmart, along with the J.M. Smucker company have some great options for snacks that aren't your usual chips and cookies (which my girls get easily tired of). On our list of SNACKATION snacks we include Jif To Go Dippers and Jif Chocolate … [Read more...]
Family Camping On A Boat
Two years ago our family bought a 25 foot boat with a full cuddy including a bed, small kitchen area, and small bathroom. After having a 19 foot fish-and-ski for a few years we decided to upgrade to something a little more family friendly. We bought the boat late in the summer of the first year so we spent most of that summer just learning the ropes of it and cruising around the lake and up and down the river. Last summer was our first time camping with it. We spent two nights beached on an island in the St. Croix river. The whole family loved it. This year hubby and I planned our schedules so we could take a four day camping trip on the river. As Mother Nature would have it, it's been raining galore in our area and the river is flooded out. All the lakes in the area are flooded also. The girls were disappointed that we would not be taking our trip. So...I … [Read more...]
An epic advenure, thank goodness for Quaker® Perfect Portions #QuakerEpicAdventures
In Minnesota we cherish warm weather, because, to be honest we don't have a ton of it! On days when the weather is perfection we try and be active outside as much as possible. This past week was one of those weeks where we spent the days outside; from sunrise to sunset. It was a good thing we started our day off right....thank goodness for Quaker® Oatmeal Perfect Portions! We each made the perfect amount for breakfast, sweetened to everyone's taste, and headed out on quite the adventure! We are blessed to live on a lake and with that comes fun family adventures for us all! This past weekend we loaded up our four kids on the boat and cruised over to the "Big Island" for a little hike. We beached our boat and headed out for the unknown. Big Island is an island that is fairly small (when you compare it to other islands) but it is filled with tall grass, trees, wild life, and beaches. Normally we spend about an hour on Big Island just walking around but this past weekend we spent … [Read more...]
