If you haven’t figured out from my Instagram feed, my family has been spending a TON of time on our boat this summer. It’s our first year getting a slip at a marina vs trailering it and we have not regretted the decision. This year, in addition to every weekend, we spent two full weeks on our boat on the river. The first week was at the beginning of the summer where we camped on an island for 3 days, the second week was two weeks ago where we traveled up and down the river. More to come on that later…
So how do I prepare for all this time on the river? I head to Walmart! It has become my SNACKATION Destination! Walmart, along with the J.M. Smucker company have some great options for snacks that aren’t your usual chips and cookies (which my girls get easily tired of).
On our list of SNACKATION snacks we include Jif To Go Dippers and Jif Chocolate Flavored Hazelnut Spread. The Dippers are perfect for adding a touch of protein in our active days and are super portable when wandering the beach. The hazelnut spread is my guilty pleasure, it’s just so yummy!
Though we have a fridge on our boat and always have a cooler with ice, fruit can be a bit hard to come by while out for a week so we grab Smucker’s Fruit Fulls. No cold needed and 100% portable for the beach. It’s pretty hard to get sand in this fruit!
Last, but not least, lunch is covered easy-peasy with Uncrustables. Our boat has very little counter space so pre-made sandwiches with the crust already off make life much better. Uncrustables are the perfect grab-and-go lunch or mid afternoon snack so that we can get back to swimming or tubing!
Walmart is my SNACKATION Destination and I think it should be yours too! Though it was cool and rainy the day we went shopping, our week on the river had near perfect weather. Stay tuned for details about our week traveling up and down the river (including climbing a giant sand “mountain”).
