I said I was never going to do the viral "Ice Bucket Challenge" that has been going around. I have plenty of reasons for not doing it. None of which I need to defend to you. However, I DID end of taking the challenge after being called out by a fellow Red Cross Social Media Advocate, Astronaut Abby and my neighbor Annie. I put my own twist on the challenge though and you're going to have to watch the video to see what it is! Now that you've watched the video, I'll lead you to this website: A few (impolite) questions about the ice bucket challenge. The author makes a few strong points that coincide with some my original reasons for not doing the challenge. Here's a link to the two causes/medical conditions/diseases (whatever you want to call them) that I support: Spasmodic Dystonia: dysphonia.org/spasmodic-dysphonia.php Spinal Muscular Atrophy (aka SMA): smafoundation.org What cause do YOU support? I'd love for you to share awareness in the comments below! … [Read more...]

Britax Convertible Car Seats #Spon
September is baby safety month . We thought that this would be a good time to share with you, our lovely readers, our thoughts and opinions on Britax’s Boulevard car seat. While we were contacted by Britax and received compensation in exchange for a review post, all opinions expressed are completely ours. The Britax Boulevard car seat is jam packed with some pretty incredible safety features! In fact, they have safety features in place that the US government doesn’t even require yet. While there is no federal regulatory standards for testing, Britax has gone above and beyond to ensure its passengers are the safest possible. The have their own crash test simulators around the world and use strict global certification requirements. They care so much for your child’s safety that they FAR exceed the federal standards! In my opinion, and in many others, Europe has much stricter guidelines than the US for car seat safety and Britax has made sure that their car seats go above and … [Read more...]
Uninterrupted Family Movie Night #spon
Turn up your volume for this post because what you don't hear is the key... Growing up, Friday night was family movie night in my house. Still today, my parents watch a movie together every Friday night. Heaven forbid my sister and I (or anyone) call during movie time and interrupt it. "You know it's movie night don't you? I'll call you back when the movie is over." Now that I have my own kids, we do family movie nights. We don't do them every week, but we do have them regularly. Again, Heaven forbid something/someone interrupt our movie. One thing that used to interfere with our family nights was our dishwasher. Hubby would start it after dinner (not thinking) and eventually we'd either have to turn up the volume on our TV way loud or simply pause the movie and wait for the dish washing cycle to end. Even when we watched our movies on the downstairs TV you could hear our dishwasher! Not any more...my new GE® Dishwasher is SUPER quiet!! Just listen... Yes, the GE® … [Read more...]
Until We Hug Again from Hallmark–Giveaway!
Welcome to day 2 of Toys In The Dryer 14 Days of Valentines! From January 25 through February 7 we'll be posting non-stop Valentine's posts to celebrate this lovely holiday. Lindsi-- Jamie and I had the pleasure of receiving Hallmark's "Until We HUG Again" bear and bunny last week. When I first got my package from Hallmark in the mail I opened it up and thought "oh, for cuteness sake!" The bear I received to review is incredibly soft and lovable. He has the cutest heart shaped nose and adorable patches sewn on him as well. (I will add that Hallmark must have paid very close attention to our families as they sent me the more "boyish" version and Jamie the more "girlish" version! Two thumbs up Hallmark!) Each adorable animal comes in a chair shaped box with very clear instructions on the bottom. Hallmark has the most amazing patented Voice Save Technology which safely records, saves and plays back treasured voice recordings for years to come. The content is saved even when you … [Read more...]
An Interview with the Directors of "Paranorman" and a Giveaway!
There's only 2 days left until the new animated movie by LAIKA, "Paranorman", hits theaters! Yep, that's right, "Paranorman" opens nationwide on August 17, 2012. No doubt you've seen the commercials for it on TV, heard sound bites on the radio, or viewed the trailer in the theaters. If you've been living under a rock without TV, radio, or the movie theater, and have no clue what I'm talking about, see the official trailer below. Jamie was lucky enough to get a press screening of the movie and was even luckier to get an interview with the directors, Sam Fell and Chris Butler! I would throw in a huge "EEEKKK!" here but that would sound unprofessional. Lets start however, with what's so special about LAIKA and "Paranorman". I mean, what's all the hype? It's just another animated movie, right? Wrong! LAIKA produced the Academy Award-nominated movie "Coraline", it's first stop-motion movie. What is stop-motion animation? Well, according to Wikipedia, stop-motion … [Read more...]
