To be completely honest, I hadn't really thought about "going green" as far as my laundry goes until this past year. I've read plenty of blog posts about making your own laundry detergent and how it's much better for you and for the environment and thought to myself, "It would be nice to use more natural laundry detergent since my clothes are against my body 24/7". Problem is, I just don't have the time or energy to make my own detergent. Then I found Seventh Generation laundry detergent. It's got all the benefits of going natural and green without the time and effort of making my own detergent. Plus, the cost isn't half bad either! Now, let me make another confession, I'm not that picky about my laundry detergent and don't really notice the difference when it comes to various brands. I tried Seventh Generation laundry detergent and didn't really notice that much of a difference from the other laundry detergents I had used so I guess that's a good thing! One thing I can say … [Read more...]
Daylight Savings and the Pajanimals
Daylight savings time used to be a fun time when I was a kid. An extra hour of sleep in the fall and an extra hour of daylight in the spring. Now that I am a mother daylight savings time is a time I anticipate a bump in the road for my kids sleeping schedule. We're lucky that our kids sleep as well as they do; they go to bed at 8pm and get up at 8am. When we know the "change in the clock" is approaching we try hard to adjust their bedtime by 15 minutes each day. After a few days we've caught up to the correct time and things seem to be back on track. One great way to gear my children up for bedtime is by watching the Pajanimals on Sprout TV. If you have never heard of the Pajanimals before I'd highly recommend you check them out. They are soothing and calming and help my children relax and unwind before bedtime. Sprout TV is the only place where you can regularly watch Squacky (the favorite of my twins) and their friends. Furthermore, Sprout TV is the only 24 hour channel dedicated … [Read more...]
Andrew Shue and Mom.com
*Due to the Thanksgiving Holiday there will be no Fun Stuff Friday linky today we will see you next Friday!* On Tuesday, November 15th, Jamie had the opportunity to meet the actor Andrew Shue (Billy Campbell from Melrose Place) at the Minneapolis Suburbs Mom.com Premier Party. Unfortunately, Lindsi was unable to attend the party due to a death in her family. She missed a really fun and informative time! Ok, so what is Mom.com, why were they having a premier party, how is Andrew Shue involved, and why were we invited?? Lets start with Mom.com and Andrew Shue... Years ago, Andrew quit acting to spend more time with his family and pursue other adventures. He eventually co-founded Cafemom, one of the largest social networking sites for moms in the US. Cafemom is now off-shooting into another site called Mom.com... If you go to the Mom.com website now, it looks like your average daily deals site. However, the deals on the site have actual local moms acquiring them, standing … [Read more...]
Nature’s Hand Granola
We are pleased to share with our fabulous readers a little about Nature’s Hand Granola. Nature’s Hand was founded in 1971 in Burnsville, Minnesota (about half way between our houses!). They only use premium, all-natural ingredients--no artificial colors or flavors; no preservatives; no sodium and no trans fats. Lindsi and her family are granola freaks and Jamie is a granola newbie. We were excited when we were contacted to write a review for Nature’s Hand. We each received two flavors of our choice along with a surprise money saving coupon for Greek yogurt and a super cool glass bowl with a lid. Both Lindsi and Jamie chose Maple Pecan (great minds think alike) while our second choices were Cinnamon Apple and Vanilla Almond respectively. Initial thoughts: The boldly colored packaging for this granola are great! Each bag is resealable (which is good for granola because if left to air it will get “soggy”) and has a see through window to give you a sneak peek of what is … [Read more...]
