I don't know about you but Hubby and I love wine and we drink it frequently. I have saved all of my corks, thinking one day I will make something out of them. I have an entire large box full and have yet to do anything with them until now!I saw this super cute cork reindeer on Pinterest and thought this was perfect for my girls to make and a perfect use of some of my corks! The original post does not have any directions so I had to guess a bit. We also didn't have the same things on hand so we improvised... We quickly discovered that regular glue just won't work so we used our hot glue gun which worked much better! Two and a half corks, some pipe cleaners, "google eyes" as my girls call them, and a pink jewel (because we didn't have red) and we've got a cork reindeer!Ours vs theirs..what do you think?P.S. The original post has some other super cute things to make for Christmas out of corks so I highly suggest you check it out! … [Read more...]
Reese’s Stuffed Crescent Rolls
If you've been reading our blog for a while, you know that we love to stuff things into crescent rolls and we love to do things with left over Halloween candy. Today's Pinned it, Did it! post combines both of those things! My girls and I couldn't wait to make these as soon as I told them about the pin I saw. We LOVE Reece's Peanut Butter Cups and these are so easy to make! You'll need:4 Reece's Peanut Butter Cups1 can of crescent rolls (8 rolls)That's it!You'll start by unrolling the crescent roll doughs and laying them on your baking sheet. Next, cut each Reece's in half. Place one half on the fat end of each roll.Roll up each crescent around the halved Reece's making sure to tuck the sides so the chocolate doesn't melt out as it bakes.Bake according to the crescent roll package.Sprinkle with powdered sugar before serving. (I could not find my powdered sugar so it's not included in our final photo). The original website says they are best served warm but I didn't mind them after … [Read more...]
Pinned it, Did it- FAIL
It's Lindsi here! Jamie is off to the land of bloggy camp! She's attending a convention- in Chicago (anyone have a green crayon to color me with- green with envy)?I saw the coolest idea on Pintrest the other day and I thought "I have got to try that!" I have always thought it would look neat to hang some oversized Christmas bulbs from my window but couldn't justify the cost (they're darn expensive!). Pintrest to the rescue....or so I thought. Someone purchased large styrofoam balls a their local craft store and spray painted them in the color they wanted. Then they added string to them and viola....over-sized Christmas bulbs!Off to the craft store I went...styrofoam balls and a can of gold spray paint......some fumes, a little box and annoyance later! I tried two times but each time the same thing happened. The spray paint ate through the styrofoam balls! Totally melted them along with my excitement!I considered trying one more time...but didn't want to spend much on more styrofoam … [Read more...]
Pinned it, Did it!–Not Really…
I didn't have time this week. As much as I want to try all those fun things on Pinterest, I have a real life that requires time (shocking, I know!). Between my PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) classes in the middle of the week (remember, I'm used to only working on the weekends) and preparing for Tottie's friend birthday party on Friday evening and the family birthday party on Saturday evening, my life was CRAZY this week! I had some awesome ideas from Pinterest to do for Tottie's birthday but that just didn't happen. I ended up buying everything. Sometimes you just gotta do that for sanity sake! I DID however, manage to finish Tottie's zombie Halloween costume for her birthday party tomorrow! I'm pretty proud of myself for that one and can't wait to show you the finished look of her in it! Nutty has yet to determine what she wants to be. Guess Hubby will have to take her shopping this weekend... So how was your week? Are you prepared for Halloween? … [Read more...]
Cotton Swab Skeletons–Pinned it, Did it!
I saw this pin on Pinterest and could not resist. What a perfect craft for Halloween and we had everything on hand! We used: Cotton swabs (or as Tottie calls them--"ear waxers" Glue Wax paper (to prevent glue from getting all over the table Unfortunately, the photo in the pin did not link back to a website for directions so we had to guess how to make it. Not too complicated though, we simply followed the photo... This craft was a little more difficult than I thought it was going to be. Getting cotton swabs to stick together with glue is not as easy as it looks! Cutting the cotton swabs was fun though! They are hard to cut (at least ours were) so when we snipped them, the small end flew across the kitchen! Tottie thought it was funny! Hint: Make sure to let your skeleton dry completely before you try moving him! He's fragile and can easily come unglued! Our skeleton vs. their skeletons. We only made one because Tottie got frustrated and I didn't want … [Read more...]
Apple Nachos–Pinned it, Did it!
Apple Nachos were one of the very first things I pinned when I opened my personal Pinterest account over nine months ago. As with almost everything I pin, it has just sat on my board waiting to be made--until now! As the original site says, there is no real recipe for this tasty treat. It's simply whatever you think would be good with apples! I had left over caramel, chocolate chips, and cashews from yesterday's chocolate caramel popcorn (which did not last long in our house by the way) and we added apples and peanut butter. Yum! What a great way to add some fruit and a little bit of hidden protein to your child's diet! … [Read more...]
