Want a super fun Christmas gift for your little girl? Try play make-up! My daughter LOVES to be "grown-up!" I just am not ready for her to be really grown up. Cue the play make-up! It's kind of ridiculously expensive and to be honest it's just junk. I feel like the stuff is REALLY hard to wash off too! I made my daughter her own set of make-up the other day and I thought I'd share it with you. You will need the following items: empty make-up containers nail polish Wash out the empty make-up containers and dry them well. (If you don't have any empty ones you are willing to share then you can always go to the dollar store and buy some there and empty them out.) Choose the colors of nail polish you wish to use. I chose a cream for the "foundation," a rose color for the "blush," and some vivid greens for "eye shadow." Shake your nail polish really well and let set for a minute to allow the air bubbles to rise. Then, carefully pour the selected color into the container of … [Read more...]
Christmas in July- Make your own Snow
Do you ever want to play with snow inside and not have it melt all over the place? Make your own fake snow! Perfect for these HOT July days! It's great for decorating , letting your kids drive their toy cars through or just plain playing in! All you will need is: A few unused disposable diapers (It would be super gross to use dirty diapers.) Water A container to mix in silver glitter (optional) Ok, now this is so easy you are going to think you missed something! 1) Cut open the diaper and pull out the inside absorbent layer. 2) Put it in the container and slowly add water 3) Mix until it becomes snow consistency! For powdery snow use less water, for slushy snow use more water. 4) Add a bit of glitter for some sparkle. (optional) My girls had a TON of fun playing with the snow! We attempted to add more water and make a snowman but it wasn't really successful. My girls did however, enjoy adding more and more water to see how slushy they … [Read more...]

It's super simple to make, and is good for kids of all ages (my husband loves it as much as my 2 and 5 year old!) Use the "I Spy" bottle for long car rides, laying low when your kids are sick, or keeping your little monsters busy when you need to clean. Pogo.com Online Games #Poppit
ToysInTheDryer focuses on finding ways to spend quality time with your children. However, sometimes you need a break from them, and/or they need a break from you. It can be difficult to keep your children entertained (and quiet) while you get that much needed 15 minutes to yourself. It might also be hard for you to let go and relax for short periods of time. Playing games online solve both of those problems! Pogo.com offers 100+ FREE online games suitable for multiple ages and interests. They have everything from simple, relatively low thinking games such as Mahjong and Poppit, to Scrabble and card games that require some level of concentration, all the way up to Chess and casino games that require skill. Pogo.com even offers multi-player games! I prefer the low thinking games and some of the classic board games. Nutty (age almost 6) loves that she can play the low thinking games (Bejeweled and Poppit) just like her mom! We use online games from Pogo.com as rewards for Nutty and … [Read more...]
Paper Ring Count Down to Kindergarten
My oldest starts Kindergarten this year and I can assure you he will not let anyone forget it. He has been asking me "when do I get to start Kindergarten?" for at least a year now. Now that we're in the home stretch for the first day of school I thought it would be fun to make a "visual" for him so he could really understand how much longer until that big day. (Well, OK to be completely honest- my mom gave me the idea!) I made an old fashion paper ring counter for him. I found a cute school bus photo online and printed it out. Then I counted off the days until the first day of school and made a paper ring for each day. Starting last night he gets to tear off one ring before bed and when he gets to the school bus he knows it's school time! What fun! My mom even had a great idea to add to the "good ol' fashion paper ring"....mark off special dates along the way with big events so he has even more to look forward to. I added a special ring for "the state fair starts," "back to school … [Read more...]
