Homemade Beef Jerky

We love beef jerky in our home and we tend to make it weekly. It's really easy to do and MUCH MUCH cheaper than buying it in the store. You do NOT need a food dehydrator to do it either. Because we make it so often we did invest in a food dehydrator, but again it is certainly not required. You will need:a large beef roast (sliced- you can slice it yourself or have the butcher do it for you)1 cup soy sauce3/4 cup Worcestershire sauce1 T red pepper flakes1/2 tsp liquid smoke1/2 tsp Cayenne pepper1 tsp black pepper3 T honey3T maple syrupa pinch of garlic powderPlace your sliced beef into the mixture of marinade and let set for a MAXIMUM of 15 minutes (if you leave it in the marinade longer the taste will be incredibly strong)Lay the beef out on a cookie sheet and place in the oven at the lowest temperature setting (usually 125-150 degrees F) and leave over night. The beef will dehydrate and dry up by morning and you will be left with some awesome homemade beef jerky. Enjoy! … [Read more...]

Love Coffee Koozie

If you're like me...I'm sure your not (tee hee hee)...you sit and think about all those coffee koozies sitting in a landfill each time they hand you one with your tasty morning drink. Instead of using koozies you throw away, how about making your own that you can reuse! Even better, how about making a love coffee Koozie for Valentine's Day this year! I am a huge fan of upcycling....what is upcycling? It's reusing something that serves no purpose and transforming it into something you can use! So it sits and sits and sits there in my closet tormenting me saying "ha, ha! You'll never wear me again!" (Big meanie!) I was looking at the sleeves thinking they would make GREAT coffee koozies! So away to work I went making a love coffee koozie. Here's what you will need to make your own love coffee koozie: An old sweater Felt Thread and … [Read more...]
