Valentine’s Boxes

Welcome to day 7 of Toys In The Dryer’s 14 days of Valentines
From Feb 1-14 we’re doing non-stop Valentine’s posts to celebrate this lovely holiday!

One thing that I remember from my childhood that was special was the Valentine’s boxes my mom would make for me. At our school we always had a contest to see who could be the most creative and crafty in making their “mailboxes” for Valentines…..and I will admit, I always won! (Thanks mom!)

A lot of schools are sending home the request to make Valentine’s boxes (because of budget cuts they no longer are making them in schools) so I thought it would be fun to share some inspiration with you! (I only wish I had photos of the amazing boxes my mom made for me.) First thing you will want to do is get creative in your structure! You could use a basket and weave ribbons, you could make a box out of an old shoe box, use an actual mail box, or you can even use paper plates.

I hope some of these photos will inspire you to get creative!

Have you considered using popsicle sticks?

I got this adorable, glittery, heart shaped basket from Target for $1!!!! I had my daughter weave some ribbon into it (great fine motor skill activity) and she loves it!
