The Tabtor service, information, and additional free trials have been provided by Tabtor in exchange for a review post. Here’s a bit of information provided to us by the lovely people at Tabtor.
Tabtor is a revolutionary tutoring service that provides more customization, instant feedback, and more personalization. This makes tutoring fun for the student and efficient, all at a cost and engagement-level parents love!
- Personalization – Tabtor offers an extremely-personalized learning experience that is often not available in standard K-6 education. The Tabtor solution allows for customized worksheets for each individual student’s needs, as well as a dedicated Tabtor instructor to maximize student engagement. This includes specific instruction for those who struggle with math and problem solving skills – providing personalized attention in these areas.
- Convenience – Via an iPad, Tabtor worksheets can be completed in the convenience of the students own home, during downtime at school, in the car, or even at a sporting event among many others. The Tabtor solution also eliminates the hassle of carrying around heavy practice workbooks, which are also environmentally wasteful.
- Proof of Learning Analytics – Tabtor allows instantaneous grading feedback and guarantees 24-hour feedback to issues or questions. Providing comprehensive analytics, Tabtor can track every student activity – keystroke, pen stroke, eraser, etc., to help teachers and parents understand student performance and potential intervention points. The analytics are so in-depth that they can tell instructors how long it takes a student to complete a problem and can identify key areas of struggle for the students Tabtor currently has 500 active students enrolled and students have shown a 20 percent improvement in just two months.
Our personal experience with Tabtor has been great. We were given a 2 week free trial in exchange for a review post and I’m happy to report that I am pretty pleased with this program! My eldest son is a kiddo that doesn’t like math. In fact, he finds every excuse possible to not do it. I don’t think it’s too challenging for him, I think it’s more of a “ugh, I just don’t want to do this” type attitude. Here’s our likes and dislikes:
Likes-
- We loved that this app came with a 12 step questionnaire just to get you used to the app. This is genius! I think there are so many great apps out there but not very many offer you a “free-time” just to get comfortable with the application.
- As a parent I loved that if my child got something wrong his answer was still visible and grayed so that he could see the incorrect answer. I think so many times there are opportunities lost from not being able to see the incorrect solution.
- Tabtor provides its subscribers a 20 question “test.” This gives your child a chance to work through age appropriate math questions with a timer. What is fantastic about this is that this test is then submitted to the staff at Tabtor and they will review it.
- After they review your childs test they follow-up with a personal (not automated) phone call and email to gather information about your childs learning style, strengths and weaknesses, and then they come up with lesson plan designed just for your child.
- Every time you complete a worksheet your child will receive a new one. This is fantastic because there is always something there for them to be working on, fine tuning their skills, and building upon new ones.
- Below each math problem there is graph paper for the child to work out the solution. This is awesome!
- I love that Tabtor allows my child to learn at his own pace (not the one set by school). I found that with this opportunity to self pace he is more inclined to give it his best effort. When he is pressured into it he usually will push back.
Dislikes-
- I wish it didn’t take 24-48 hours to get your lesson plan from Tabtor. I realize they are real people and they have lives but it would be great to get an automated response right away so that your child can begin working in some fashion.
- I wish the application was more colorful. The app is your basic black, white and gray. I believe that if it offered bright colors and fun patterns my child would be a little more excited about it.
Conclusion-
We really enjoyed using the Tabtor application and we will continue to do so! I have already seen my son gain new confidence in his math skills in the short time we’ve used this application. And I quote “mama, math is not my favorite thing to do, in fact I don’t like it at all. But I don’t mind doing it on my tablet.” I will take that! If he doesn’t mind working out math problems on his tablet then I will happily oblige. The lovely folks at Tabtor are offering our amazing readers a chance to win a free 3-month trial of Tabtor! We’re so excited to offer this along side of them! We can’t wait to hear how this amazing app has helped your kiddo out.
