If you are like me you wonder how to develop your kids typing skills. I know, I’m weird but these are a list of amazing sites to help your school age kid (and even some for you) hone in on those skills and shock their teachers with their skills come September!
http://typingadventure.com Here you will attempt to save your scuba diver from shark infested waters. Type the words that appear on the sharks bodies before they reach the diver and you will advance to the next round. You have four levels to choose from, this makes it fun even for adults.
http://www.nitrotype.com This site is great because you can challenge your kid by creating competitions with people all over the world! You get to race other “drivers” to the finish line by typing a sentence. This is fun because it creates a little added pressure because you’re watching your car race across the screen as others are doing the same thing.
http://www.tvokids.com/games What is fantastic about this site is that it is geared for the little ones. Instead of words to type you get letters alone; capital and lower case. My preschoolers loved the monkey!
http://www.typingmaster.com/games/typing-games.asp This one is reminiscent of the old Pac Man classic. Your little yellow man chases the letters all over the screen. Type them quickly or you will be attacked. There is also a Nemo-type game that has bubble letters you must type to pop and a Tetris-style game that you have to type the letters of the bricks in order to break them.
http://freeonlinetypinggames.com/kids-typing/dino-kids-trash-typer/ The nice thing about this site is that they require you to hit enter after each word, this gives your little finger a little extra practice at the most commonly used key on the keyboard. Type the words quickly or your boat will sink.
http://funschool.kaboose.com/fun-blaster/games/game_super_hyper_spider_typer.html This hyper spider gets nervous as those hungry lizards race across the screen. Type the words on the lizards before they get to the spider and have him for lunch.
http://www.funtotype.com/ This site has a collection of 20 typing games! You are sure to find at least one that your kid will enjoy.
