How to make a candy wreath for Christmas

how to make a wreath out of candy
Yummy!!!!! I love me some peppermint candy! The smell, the taste, the color, and the time of year. My kids love them too! I knew this project would be a sure fire hit with them (and me, tee hee hee!)
I gathered my three oldest kids (knees and feet seen above) and had them help me unwrap all the peppermints! I let them eat one for every dozen or so they unwrapped, I was the BEST mommy ever (or so they told me)
While they continued to unwrap I started gluing the candies onto the styrofoam wreath (which I got at the dollar store!!!)

When it was all covered I added a bow and we all sat back and enjoyed what we had created together! It was so much fun to make, and pretty darn cute, if you ask me!

  1. Did you use glue to attach the candy? I’ve seen this done with frosting and am a little leary of the strength of the frosting. Yours looks amazing and I bet it smells great.

  2. I used hot glue to attach them. (I figured that I wouldn’t want to eat them after they’d been hanging on the wreath all season).

P.S. I got a glue gun for my birthday (I really didn’t have one!) so I can make this!! =-)

  11. What a cool idea!! I love peppermint decor!! 🙂

  12. My mama used to use sugar free ones and tie them to a wreath with a ribbon while still wrapped. Then, she would take them to nursing homes and give them to her patients to nibble on during the holidays 🙂 They loved it!

  13. I made this wreath earlier this month, but I sprayed mine with High Gloss Acrylic. We live in South Mississippi and I didn’t want the warm temperatures to ruin it or it get sticky with bugs. I also took a black sharpie and wrote our last name on the bottom, one letter per peppermint. It tuned out really cute.
