Easy Ladybug Cookies

Last Thursday was “Mommy and Me Day” at Tottie’s preschool. For an hour all the moms visited their kids at school, played games, sang songs, made crafts, and ate a snack. The past two “Mommy and Me Days” I attended with Nutty, the snack consisted of a “sundae” made from a graham cracker, frosting, and a maraschino cherry which the kids made for us. This year they did something different…ladybug cookies. They were so cute I just had to share them with you!

We made the cookies together this year and it was a ton of fun! (Disclaimer: All the photos except the first one are of Tottie making the cookies at preschool. I forgot to take a photo of the finished cookies, however, so I recreated them slightly differently at home for the “good” photo).

To make these cookies yourself, you’ll need:

  • Nilla wafer cookies
  • Vanilla frosting
  • Red food coloring (the gel works the best or the frosting may turn out more pink than red)
  • Mini chocolate chips (though the regular size will do just fine)
  • Milk Duds (or Junior Mints for a blacker head–I’m not a fan of Junior Mints)

1)  Start by turning your frosting red with the food coloring

2) Spread the frosting over a cookie.

3) Next add the chocolate chips for the spots

4) Put a Milk Dud on for a head.

5) Eat and enjoy!!
