Raspberry Cheesecake Salad

Get ready to become addicted! I am telling you that this dessert scores me points EVERY time I make it. I got this recipe from a friend about 6 years ago and I am going to bet you will love it as much as we do! I even make it for my hostesses when they have a Scentsy party with me...I've learned to bring the recipe with me on little cards otherwise I will get numerous emails afterwards begging for it! 1st layer you will need- 1 6oz package raspberry Jell-o 2 Cups boiling water 1 20oz package of frozen raspberries WITH juice (thawed) I like to thaw my raspberries and juice in the pan I am going to serve the dessert in. Next I combine the water and Jello in a bowl and pour into the raspberries. Let Jello completely set before adding next layer. 2nd layer you will need- 1 8oz package of cream cheese (softened) 1 8oz container of Cool Whip (sorry tried not to mention names) 1 Cup sugar I like to combine these ingredients in a large bowl and use my mixer to mix them really … [Read more...]

Severe Weather Kit

The National Severe Weather Preparedness Week was April 22-28.  Did you practice safety techniques during that week? We did! In Minnesota we have quite a few severe thunderstorms and tornadoes each year. This year, spring came early and we had an earlier than expected severe thunderstorm. Our power went out and we realized we had not gathered our kit yet. So, after the storm was over I was determined to make a kit and store it in the same place all year so we would always know where it was. For our severe weather kit we have the essentials: candles and a lighter, a weather radio, flashlights and batteries. We have a small handful of flashlights because we have a large family, it's nice for each person to have their own light. We also have extra batteries for a couple of reasons. They are primarily for the flashlights but the other purpose they serve is for my kids Leap Pads. We found that these are great distractions from the "scary-ness" of no power and crazy winds. I want to … [Read more...]

Gardening with your kids

For Earth day the kids and I decided to plant our veggies for the summer! It was GREAT fun! Last year was our first year growing our own veggies and we learned a lot. We learned that weeding is VERY important, we learned that the deer will not leave our garden alone without a little electricity (insert evil snicker here) and we learned that we did not plant ENOUGH of anything. This year we decided to add a few more (OK actually 24 more) crowns of asparagus to our crop. This time next year we will have asparagus coming out of our ears and I cannot wait (and neither can my kids)! We just finished planting three varieties of lettuce, radishes, onions, red potatoes, green beans and peas....and to top it all off we have room left over for a few tomato plants! I am....oops I mean the kids are, SO excited! Source Gardening with my kids last year changed the way they looked at vegetables. They actually enjoy them now. There is something magical about plopping a few … [Read more...]

Fun Stuff Friday #19

Remember when Linkys were all the rage in blogging? They were a great way to find and get to know other bloggers before social media and Pinterest became mainstream. It didn’t hurt that they brought a ton of traffic to your site too. Lindsi and I started our Fun Stuff Fridays linky back in 2011. We kept it going for 20 weeks before it fizzled out (or we got sick of doing it, I’m not sure which happened). It is now soon to be 2017 and at lot of the links in those linkies no longer exist. Plus, I’ve let my link up subscription lapse so you can’t get to them anyway. Instead of deleting the Fun Stuff Fridays posts, however, I have decided to clean them up and make sure our featured links are still valid. After all, on a rare occasion I get traffic from one of these old posts. The linky may be gone but the featured posts are still valid as of December 2016… Welcome to Fun Stuff Fridays. We love seeing what our readers have been up to and cannot wait to share some of our favorites! … [Read more...]
