Our Week On The River

This post is sponsored by the J.M. Smucker company through a campaign with Sverve. All opinions expressed are 100% my own.

Last week I showed you how we prepared for our week long trip on the Mississippi River with Walmart as our SNACKATION Destination. Today, you get to see what a week long river trip looks like! Let me tell you, it was a TON of fun!

week on the river

Monday

Monday was actually spent just hanging out at our marina. We needed to clean, organize, and pack the boat. We also got a bit of fishing in on the docks. The girls were catching fish left and right! We slept on our boat in our slip that night.

Tuesday

Tuesday we hung out with friends in the bay near our marina. We went tubing and swimming. Tuesday night we actually went home to sleep because we had to prepare for…

Wednesday

Nutty’s birthday party! Yes, Nutty’s 9th birthday party was on our boat on the river. A total of 8 girls hung out going for boat rides, tubing, and playing on our water carpet. A few friends from the marina joined us for cupcakes and gift opening at the end of the party. It was one of the best birthdays Nutty has had!

week on the river

Wednesday night, after the party was over, we boated down river from our marina to a place called “The Bowl”. Essentially it’s an island made from all of the sand that they dredge out of the river. On one end is a massive sand “mountain” and on the other end is a pond-like area. The pond-like area used to be a bay where you could drive your boat into but it has since been filled in. We beached our boats and camped at “The Bowl” for the night.

Thursday

After spending the morning playing at “The Bowl” we headed further south on the river toward a town called Redwing. The girls got to go through a lock and dam for the first time and thought it was pretty fun. We docked our boats in Redwing and spent the afternoon wandering the town.

Thursday night we took a break from the river and docked our boats at Treasure Island Resort and Casino. We shared a two room suite with our friends and spent the evening swimming at the pool and just hanging out. Luckily we had the hotel room because it stormed that night!

Friday

We decided to head further south on Friday to check out Lake Pepin. We got to the edge of the lake when the weather started looking yucky again. It was time to head home. Most of the day Friday was spent traveling back to our marina. That night was spent at the marina because…

Saturday

Hubby’s cousin, girlfriend, and kids came to hang out with us for the day. It was a bit cooler than the previous days but we still beached our boat on an island and went swimming. Walmart’s SNACKATION Jiff To Go Dippers and the Smucker’s Fruit Fulls were a huge hit for snacks and the Smucker’s Uncrustables made lunch easy after a long week.

Saturday night we went home. It was a long, fun, tiring week on the river and it was now over. We can’t wait to do something similar again next year!
