Duraflame® encourages us to read as a family #Ad

National Read Across America Day was March 2nd, Dr. Seuss’s birthday. Though I’m a little late to the party, I, and Duraflame® fire logs, would like to remind you that you don’t need a day to encourage you to read as a family. Spending time reading together is important any day of the year!

Duraflame® sent my family a wonderful package containing a fire log, hot chocolate, and Dr. Seuss’s “The Lorax” book so that we could sit down by the fire and read together. With temps still dipping into the 10°F range in Minnesota, it was a welcome parcel!

It actually isn’t all that unusual for us to sit by the fire as a family. Sometimes we read, sometimes we play games, and other times we just hang out and chat. My girls, however, love to read. Snuggling on their over-sized pillows with Hubby or me (or both) and listening to stories is a great way to calm down before bed.

Watching the flames of the fire and listening to the snaps and pops is also quite soothing. I was impressed how Duraflame’s® log made the “perfect looking fire” (at least in my opinion) and it only took one log to do it. Plus, no trees are cut down to make Duraflame® fire logs. They recycle more than 50,000 tons of wood sawdust and agricultural biomass each year to make their logs. So, just as The Lorax fought to preserve the Truffula Trees, Duraflame® believes that everyone can play a hand in protecting our valuable resources. A huge plus for me and the reason Dr. Suess’s “The Lorax” was the reading book sent with my package.

This wasn’t the first, nor will it be the last time my family reads by the fire. If the temps in MN don’t start warming up soon, we’ll be reading by the fire for at least another month! When the weather warms up, we can read outside while working on a tan!

How often do you read books as a family?

Comments

  1. I need to do this more with my kids. I love to read, but forget to slow down and take the time to look at books with them.

  2. Yes, reading with the entire family is essential!

  3. We love Duraflame in this family! I don’t have a fireplace, but my Grandma does, so we’ve taken Duraflame logs over to her house several times.

As for books – it’s crazy, but it seems like all the books I read are on my Kindle phone app these days!

  4. I wish we had a fireplace to read by. We do read together, but probably not as much as we should.

  5. Nothing like a nice warm fire on what has been one of the worst winters that I can remember as far as cold temperatures.

  6. We love Dura Flame! I love our fire place it’s so cozy in winter.

  7. We read books as a family as often as we can. I sure wish we had a cozy fire to lay in front of.

  8. Now that the boys are teens, we don’t read together – unless the grandkids are over. It’s really nice to hear the boys read to the grandkids.

  9. One of my favorite things to do is to read by our fireplace. We stock up on Duraflame logs the end of fall so we’re good all winter. And even though it’s officially spring, we had record-breaking cold temps this week.

  10. I’m in MN and it sure doesn’t feel like Spring here! We are ready to curl up in front of the fire too!

  11. I’m always cold so I love sitting by a nice hot fire for family time.

  12. I wish we had a fireplace. I use to love using those in our old house.

  13. We have a fireplace but since we live in AL I kinda find it a total waste of living room space!

  14. While we haven’t read by the fire, my kids adore story time. It’s one of their favorite parts of the day.
