If you’ve been reading Toys In The Dryer since last year, you know that I was all excited about the movie Paranorman. This year, the makers of Paranorman have come out with a new movie called The Boxtrolls. If the animation is anything like Paranorman, it’s going to be AWESOME!
The Boxtrolls is another stop-motion animation from LAIKA and Focus Features. Yes, more than 20,000 props were hand made and hand manipulated to make this film. It took animators an average of 1 week to make 3.7 seconds of film which is about 90 frames (or photos). Crazy huh?
Wondering what The Boxtrolls is about? Here’s the official synopsis:
A family event movie from the creators of “Coraline” and “ParaNorman” that introduces audiences to a new breed of family – The Boxtrolls, a community of quirky, mischievous creatures who have lovingly raised a human boy named Eggs (voiced by Isaac Hempstead Wright) in the amazing cavernous home they’ve built beneath the streets of Cheesebridge. When the town’s villain, Archibald Snatcher (Academy Award winner Ben Kingsley), comes up with a plot to get rid of the Boxtrolls, Eggs decides to venture above ground, “into the light,” where he meets and teams up with fabulously feisty Winnie (Elle Fanning). Together, they devise a daring plan to save Eggs’ family.

I like how unique this story is. This box grows up in a box and thinks he is a troll when he is human. It just looks so cute!
I Like The Storyline And Unique Characters!

What interests me most about The Boxtrolls is the fact it’s a stop animation film and let’s face it that’s the best kind of cartoons no!? I’m also excited about seeing the movie tonight because I loved Coraline and ParaNorman so I think this one is going to be just as awesome :)!
